How to Manage an Effective Video Marketing Strategy

“How to Manage an Effective Video Marketing Strategy” written by Mike Marko.

Are you struggling with social media marketing?

It’s not uncommon.  Most people who do social media marketing don’t really know how to do it effectively.

And one of the things they miss is… VIDEO!

If you’re going to have a thriving social media marketing strategy it should include video, especially on Facebook.  Social media is where a lot of activity is going on, and that is also the go to place for online marketing.

That’s why today I’m going to talk about how to manage social media accounts using an effective video marketing strategy.

How to Make An Effective Video Marketing Strategy

Video is extremely powerful.

You have YouTube as a powerful tool for promoting your brand through content marketing.  And Facebook now is trying to become the video platform of choice, and have given “preferential treatment” to video content in what shows in the feed.

Many people prefer to use video to learn things instead of reading.

And video can be a LOT more fun than traditional content.

That’s why you need to use video in your social media marketing strategy.

How Long Should The Video Be?

Ok, if you are like me you probably have a short tension span.

And so really do most people.

As a society we have grown accustomed to fast information.  And so if a video drones on and on… if it’s not filled with valuable information that rivets the audience (and most video doesn’t…) you’ll quickly start losing them after a minute or so.

That means that you should endeavor to keep your video between 1 to 3 minutes in length.  Any more than that then you better have something that is going to compel the audience to stay on.

That’s why I try to keep my video around a couple minutes and break it up into segments.

The cool thing is that when you do that then you can create a LOT more content in the same period of time, and share it to get more traffic.

Video Creation Tips

What To Do With Your Video

When you have your video content, it’s time to promote.

  1. Upload it to YouTube.
  2. Upload it to Facebook.  Check out this article on the best video size for Facebook.
  3. Upload it to Dailymotion.
  4. Share it on Twitter.
  5. Share it on LinkedIn.
  6. Chop it down into 1 minute segments and post on Instagram.
  7. Syndicate by posting links to YouTube on Pinterest.
  8. Create a blog post around it and embed the video on the blog from YouTube (which also ads link juice to the YouTube video).  I then put a link to the blog post towards the top of the video description.
  9. Email a link to either the YouTube video, or better yet your blog post, to your email list.  Alternately instead of writing a unique blog post you can use Speachpad to transcribe the video very accurately to text (takes about a week) and create a blog post with that text.

You can see, there are a lot of things you can do with a video.  Don’t feel limited to this list because there are a lot of other things you can do with the video.

Final Thoughts On How to Manage an Effective Video Marketing Strategy

Video is a powerful way of marketing your business and brand.  When you use this effective video marketing strategy it will help you get the maximum result for your video content creation effort.

Tips on What To Tweet In Twitter for Marketing on Twitter

“Tips on What To Tweet In Twitter for Marketing on Twitter” written and video by Mike Marko.

Are you looking to improve your social media marketing with Twitter??

I was in your place not too long ago. To be honest, about a couple years ago “I didn’t get Twitter”… at all!! I didn’t understand why I should use it.  So I neglected it for a few years.

Then a year ago all that turned around.  Now Twitter is one of my favorite sources of lead generation.

That’s why today I’ll be talking about about some what to tweet in Twitter in order to get good marketing results with this social media platform.

Tips on What To Tweet In Twitter for Marketing on Twitter

Previously we talked about how often to post to Twitter, and even earlier I gave tips on how to use Twitter for lead generation.  In the following video I talk about what to tweet in Twitter.

Let’s expand on this more as I help lay it all out.

Be Social

When you post to Twitter, you need to realize that Twitter like Facebook, Instagram, and other social media, is a SOCIAL MEDIA platform… that means you need to be “social”.

What does that mean?

That means that you need to think about what your followers (or near future followers) will want to see to feel that your Twitter account has value.  DO NOT sell and sell and sell!  That doesn’t work very well, especially on social media.  If you turn your followers off they’ll just unfollow your account.

So let’s talk about what you SHOULD post.

Diversify Your Content

An effective Twitter account posts a variety of posts around a social media niche.  With that in mind, lets talk about different things you can post:

  1. Quotes.  This is a simple way to get some quick variety on your twitter account.  Find quotes that are relevant to your niche, and would be of value to your target audience.
  2. Quote images.  If you have some really good quotes, I recommend making them into some images that grab the followers attention.  Images are ideally 549 by 289 pixels if you want the image to be complete seen without having to be clicked.
  3. Blog posts and articles.  Tweet links to any articles you write.  This helps give your followers relevant information (which could edge them towards a buying decision without selling).  Make it industry related (like talking about relevant news or trends).  This is especially effective to get traffic to your blog.  If you have created featured images for your blog posts, then use them as the image in the tweet.
  4. High Quality Images.  Tweet images and pictures showing things of interest to your followers.  For example, if you are promoting a pet store show pictures of animals that your store sells (but don’t just sell them).  Ideally you post pictures that people will love to see (funny, cute, etc).  If you make the images “shareable” then your followers may help do marketing for you.
  5. Entertaining Content.  Tweet humous content that is relevant to your niche.  Remember you want it “shareable” so people may share the content on their own accounts.
  6. Your Thoughts.  Don’t hesitate to tweet what you are thinking related to the niche.  You might be surprised that people will follwo you just to hear your thoughts.
  7. Breaking News.  Share breaking news related to your niche.  This could be from news outlets like AP (@AP), CNN Breaking News (@CNNBreak), New Your Times (@nytimes), etc.
  8. Recycle The Good Stuff.  Don’t be afraid to reuse your really good stuff.  Twitter has a fast feed and people forget what was tweeted within hours, or your followers may miss your best content.

Use Hashtags

Make sure you use hashtags when you are posting to Twitter.  Not every tweet needs hashtags, but the majority of your posts should use them so that people can find you organically.

Here’s a article I wrote on hashtag research: Using Hashtagify for Twitter Hashtag Research.

Niche Social Media – How to Determine Your Niche for Social Media Marketing

“Niche Social Media – How to Determine Your Niche for Social Media Marketing” written by Mike Marko.

Are you struggling to get traction with your social media marketing?  You aren’t getting the clients or sales you were expecting?

This happens a lot because a lot of people try to use social media for “push” marketing… whereas they are trying to just sell their products or services.  And that is probably one of the toughest ways to get more business.

Instead, I’ve learned that when you use niche social media marketing correctly, you can have a much greater impact on your business.  That’s why today  I want to talk about niche social media marketing and how to get started.

How To Use Niche Social Media

In a previous blog post I talked about how to determine your social media marketing market.  Today let’s talk about niche social media and how to get started.

VIDEO: Niche Social Media Marketing

[jwplayer player=”1″ mediaid=”20837″]

This is the blog post for more information that the video refers to.  🙂

What is Niche Social Media Marketing

Niche social media marketing is where you focus on a particular topic and market to it.  So what’s a niche?

According to Wikipedia, a niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focused. The market niche defines as the product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics that is intended to impact.

So what does that mean?

Basically it means that you narrow down your audience to a particular interest.  In the video, I gave the example of narrowing down to an audience that likes a particular type of car… but you can really narrow it down to almost anything.

Here are some examples (and remember these are only examples, and niches can combined these items or more narrowly narrow them down):

  • Bars & restaurants
  • Cars
  • Trucks
  • Architecture of a specific type
  • A particular sport or sports team
  • Fashion
  • Fashion retail
  • Movies
  • Film making
  • Healthcare
  • Wellness
  • Horse riding
  • Hunting
  • Musicians
  • Particular type of pet
  • Real estate
  • T-shirt designs
  • A style of art
  • Wargaming
  • Sailing
  • Wine

Why Do Niche Social Media Marketing

A mistake I often see is that people try to market to as broad an audience as possible because they are afraid to miss a possible sale.  And that is the wrong way of looking at things.

Have you ever heard the expression, “If you talk to everyone, you talk to no one”?

The problem is that you can’t talk to a particular audience if you are too broad in your approach.  If you are trying to market vintage car parts, its harder to market them when you are also trying to attract dog lovers.  Sure there is some cross over, but if you try to please both you are diluting the message.

Now if you build a niche around vintage cars and attract vintage car lovers, its so much easier to market to them.

This holds true to anything you are trying to promote.  And if you are trying to market to several interests, then you may have to split up your marketing and market to each one specifically.

Sure you can make some sales using the shotgun approach, but you won’t be as effective with your time.

How Do You Do Niche Social Media Marketing

The concept to niche social media is to pick a niche, and then start creating your social media content around that niche.

For example, with the vintage car example you start posting content about… vintage cars?  This can be pictures you take, content you find (be careful of copy-write content), tips, and even pictures or videos of you enjoying a ride or listening to an engine rev up.

Vintage car enthusiasts will love this type of content and they’ll engage with it and keep coming back for more.  That’s how you start to build up a following that you can market to long term.

Final Thoughts On Niche Social Media

Identifying your niche social media  can really help you hone in with your social media marketing.  Take the time to clearly identify your target niche like we discussed.  It will help you get the most effective results for your effort.

Then a few months ago all that turned around. Now Twitter is one of my favorite sources of lead generation.

Twitter Marketing Tips on Scheduling Your Tweets

The following video talks about some Twitter marketing tips when it comes to scheduling your tweets.

[jwplayer player=”1″ mediaid=”17010″]

Tool to Help with Scheduling Your Tweets

I prefer to use TweetDeck to schedule our tweets.  The tool is free and can easily manage multiple accounts.

Spread your tweets out as far as you can during the day to help increase the chances of your tweets being seen.  Never post more than one in an hour.

Frequency of Tweets

In Twitter, the posts you make (“tweets”) do not show up very long on the feed of your followers.  They quickly get lost in the rest of the feed.

Therefore you need to post frequently in order to be heard.  Target posting on Twitter 6 to 8 times a day during the week, and 4 to 6 times on the weekend.

Times to Post Tweets

You should keep your tweets between 8AM to 5PM central time.

Handling Multiple Accounts

Avoid tweeting the exact same message more than four times.  Twitter may flag you if it sees the same tweet on multiple accounts (especially if they happen exactly the same time).

Tips on Improving Twitter Lead Generation and Increasing Blog Traffic

“Tips on Improving Twitter Lead Generation and Increasing Blog Traffic” written by Mike Marko.

Are you looking for another source of social media marketing?

Have you tried Twitter but you are not getting the Twitter lead generation you want or expect?

I was in your place not long ago.  To be honest, a couple years ago “I didn’t get Twitter”… at all!!  I didn’t understand why I should use it.

Then a few months I suddenly saw the light.  Now Twitter is one of my favorite sources of lead generation.

That’s why today I’ll be talking about about tips on improving Twitter lead generation, and also on increasing blog traffic.

Twitter Lead Generation

The following video talks about how to set up Twitter to optimize your Twitter lead generation, and also on increasing blow traffic.

[jwplayer player=”1″ mediaid=”17000″]

Twitter Lead Generation with the Profile Website Link

The Twitter profile link is an important profile attribute.  You can have the link going to either:

  • Your blog (which not only acts as a means of increasing blog traffic, it also acts as a backlink to your blog)
  • Capture page with lead magnet
  • Blog post designed to help warm up the traffic to opt into your email list (also helps act as a backlink to the blog post).

Twitter Lead Generation with the Adding a Call to Action

The profile location field is great for adding a call to action for the website link.  Having an actual location in this field doesn’t really add to your marketing unless you are specifically building up a local following.  Even then in my opinion, using this field as a call to action is a more effective.

Using the limited characters allowed by this field, find a creative way to encourage visitors to click on the link.

Twitter Lead Generation with the Twitter Pinned Post

The Twitter pinned post is a very effective way of improving Twitter lead generation.  Using a lead magnet here that your audience will find of value will further improve your opt in rate.

Final Thoughts on Twitter Lead Generation

You can improve your Twitter lead generation using the few simple changes recommended in this blog post.  Maybe you’ll learn to appreciate the power in using Twitter as market as your overall marketing strategy as I have.

Instagram Marketing Secrets – Why Get People From Instagram to Facebook

” Instagram Marketing Secrets – Why Get People From Instagram to Facebook” written by Mike Marko.

Are you looking how to take your social media marketing to the next level?

You hear of people using social media marketing effectively but are you having trouble getting it to work?

I initially had some challenges as well because social media marketing didn’t come naturally to me.  But after doing research, networking with social media marketers, and trial and error, I’ve come up with a social media marketing strategy that works.

And that brings us to the topic of today’s blog post.

VIDEO: Get People from Instagram to Facebook

Previously we shared Instagram Marketing Secrets.  In this video I talk about one of my strategies in using social media: getting people from Instagram to Facebook.

[jwplayer player=”1″ mediaid=”16198″]

Why Get People from Instagram to Facebook

When coming up with a total marketing plan, you need to understand what are your hubs in your online network.  Where do you want everything to revolve around.  Knowing your hubs can help you keep on track with your strategy.

You want to keep the number of hubs to one or two, depending on the size of your network (as it grows with time).

For example, we use our blog (www.BrenAndMike.com) and Facebook as our two hubs.

So why get people from our Instagram accounts to Facebook?  We do it because we like to cultivate that tribal feeling on Facebook, where building something similar in Instagram is more challenging. Also using Facebook as our social media hub makes it easier to manage our social media presence… we aren’t having to maintain as many conversations, etc., on other platforms and can focus even more attention on Facebook.

How Do You Get People from Instagram to Facebook?

That’s easy…  We ask people on Instagram to DM (Direct Message) us.

When they do DM us, we ask them if they would like to join our private Facebook group that we focus on “xxx” (“xxx” being whatever the particular congruent group is).  For instance, if you are focusing on the Travel niche then you may have a private Facebook group about travel secrets and tips.

The private group aspect makes people feel like they are in special, and they get to belong to something exclusive.  They will mostly likely say yes.

Then ask them for their email so that you an add them to the group.

Why their email?

Because now you have their email for marketing purpose plus you have the email they specifically use for Facebook, which will often be an email they use more frequently (or at a minimum isn’t a dead email).

Now What?

Now that you have they in that private group, keep providing value with tips and ideas.  Give them stuff that will help solve their problems related to the chosen niche.

Over time you build up a tribe of people in that group that will trust and respect you… and for us marketers a following that will be more willing to purchase from us.

Final Thoughts on Getting People From Instagram to Facebook

Once you have them established, keep in mind what your hubs are for your online network.  All your activities will focus around those hubs then.

In this case, knowing that Facebook is our hub makes it easy to decide to try and get our followers on Instagram to Facebook so we can further build up that relationship.
