Using Social Media to Build Your Business
When I talk about social media, I usually talk about the big four: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Sure there are others but, depending on your niche, if you focus on these four you will get over 90% of the results from using social media for your business.
Anything more and there may be diminishing return on your effort.
So with that in mind, let’s come up with your social media plan.
Setting Up Your Social Media
First of all… setup your social media. Make sure your profiles are all complete. Put in the website address if you have one (and you should have an effective marketing website like this). All too often I see people forgetting to put their website into the bio of their social media accounts.
Then if the bio allows, include the links to your other social media accounts in your “circle”. You can create a template description for your YouTube channel that includes these links so you can have this for every video.
How To Use The Plan
Start off establishing which is your primary social media. What do you want the focus to be on?
For us it was Facebook, but for you the decision may we different.
Then in your content start mention things like “message me on Facebook” and give the link to your page. Your webpages on your website can say the same thing.
When you create blog posts, ask people to reach out to you on your favorite social media platform messaging system.
If you have an email list, you can do the same.
Your videos can have calls to action to do something like “Friend request me on Facebook” so that we we can start conversations and network with potential clients.
We use instant messaging automation, so our messages will often have a “reach out to me on Facebook” with link so that we bring them to our favorite social media platform.
Get the Picture?
Once you have the overall plan, it’s easy to start using it to effectively direct the flow of your followers. Now you’ll still want to link the secondary social media together occasionally, but the focus should be on your primary social media platform.
