Are you struggling to get your emails opened?
It can be frustrating to go through the effort of writing and sending out emails, and not having them opened. What’s even worse… you don’t increase the chances of having them become a potential client if they don’t learn more about you and what you have to offer.
That’s why today I want to talk about one tip on how to improve email open rates.

Importance of Email Open Rates
Email marketing is not dead.
In fact, email marketing plays a very important role in an effective online marketing strategy. But if no one opens your emails, then you won’t have as an effective marketing campaign as you should. Therefore you need to make sure you take steps to help improve your email open rates.
In a previous blog post we talked about how to improve email deliverability. Today we’re covering a different technique for improving email open rates.
Nobody Wants To Be Sold
You may have heard the expression, “nobody wants to be sold but everyone wants to buy.”
What does that mean? It means that it actually repels people when you try to pitch, pitch, pitch what you want to promote. Its like the user car dealer who’s practically leaping on you as soon as you walk onto the lot to look around. Their mission is obviously trying to sell you a car.
Now I understand that you may have something you want to promote as well. And there are people willing to buy what you have to offer. The trick is to get them to be attracted to you and build that relationship.
Building A Relationship
Building a relationship using the internet on the surface can seem to be a lot tougher then in person. In person you have social cues, and rapport building that go a long way to getting someone to trust you.
Online, you need to do something very similar but it often takes a lot longer because you don’t have that direct personal connection. That’s why you need to attract people to you by giving.
Lead With Value
That’s why it’s important to provide lots of content online. With content, you are giving away “free” knowledge and advice. You come from the standpoint of truly wanting to help the potential client by giving them information they need to make important decisions or to do things themselves.
You may be thinking, “wait a minute! If I tell them what they need to know to do it themselves won’t they just do it themeselves?”
The answer is yes and no.
Some will try to do it themselves, and be successful. These same people will probably come to you again and again for more information if the initial advice was really good. You’ll start building a long term relationshiop with them of TRUST and establish yourself as the AUTHORITY in that niche.
Others may realize that it may be too challenging or take too much time to do on their own (and then may hire you to do the job… since you tried to help them).
That’s why it’s important to setup emails with the goal of educating your subscribers with information congruent to what brought them to you in the first place.
They may not buy anything from you initially, but if they are opening your emails to them then they may buy days, weeks, months, or even years later. The goal is to build that foundation of trust. And if you do, then your subscribers will want to open your emails.
Email marketing may not always give you instantaneous results but it will give you results.
Final Thoughts on How To Improve Email Open Rates
As I discussed you should lead with value to help improve email open rates. Email marketing is powerful… but it’s only effective if your emails are getting delivered and then opened.
