Living Better With 33 Random Acts of Kindness

“Living Better With 33 Random Acts of Kindness” written by Bren Koger.

Do you want to know how to live better?

We’ve all heard many times the importance of a good diet and exercise to live a more healthy life.

You can try to eat a good portion of unprocessed food, get to the gym almost every day and drink plenty of water but if you’re not practicing kindness you could be missing out on something that could potentially add years to your life.

Living Better With Random Acts of Kindness

Studies have shown that practicing acts of kindness release healthy hormones like dopamine and we get something called a “helpers high.”

Not only that, acts of kindness produce an emotional warmth which in turn release the hormone, oxytocin, in the brain and throughout the body. This lowers the blood pressure and protects the heart.

Research Shows

Researcher Stephen Post of Case Western Reserve University says that when we practice acts of kindness, physical health is significantly improved, we live longer, depression is reduced and we are financially better off.

Being kind to others makes us healthy, happy and wealthy so why not spread the love..

33 Random Acts of Kindness

If you’re not sure what to do here is my list of 33 random acts of kindness to bring about better health and more happiness in your life:

  1. Smile at everyone you pass. This simple gesture can turn a persons day around.
  2. Send someone a note to tell them how much you appreciate them. Make a list of 10 things and send it to them.
  3. Find ways to compliment others. Look for the good. It’s so easy to criticize, complain and gossip about what others are not doing. Turn it around and find ways to see the good in others. Let them know what you see.
  4. Pay for the person’s coffee, toll or drive-thru behind you.
  5. Let someone in your lane in traffic.
  6. Give away stuff.
  7. Give someone a hug.
  8. Put a sticky note with a heart on someone’s mirror or computer screen.
  9. Hold the elevator.
  10. Say “Thank You” a lot.
  11. Give up your seat to someone on the bus or subway.
  12. Say “Yes” when a store asks you to donate a dollar to a cause.
  13. Every night before you go to bed think of three things you are grateful for.
  14. Compliment a stranger.
  15. Share overheard compliments.
  16. Recognize the good in others.
  17. Say “Hi” to strangers.
  18. Tip generously.
  19. Buy the stuff the neighbor kids are selling.
  20. Drop quarters on the sidewalk for people to find.
  21. When people are gossiping about someone, be the person to chime in with something nice.
  22. When someone makes a meal that you love, ask for the recipe.
  23. Leave money in the vending machine.
  24. Pick up trash.
  25. Return a grocery cart.
  26. Buy flowers for the cashier at the grocery store.
  27. Introduce yourself to someone you always see around.
  28. Forgive yourself for any mistakes you’ve made.
  29. Hold the door open for someone.
  30. Don’t honk at cars or people.
  31. Call your mom just to tell her you love her.
  32. Hug someone you love like you mean it.
  33. When you hear that negative voice in your head, remember to leave yourself alone — you deserve kindness too!

Final Thoughts on Random Acts of Kindness

Some of these cost money and some are free. Even if you are struggling financially I challenge you to invest the money it takes to do these little acts of kindness it will come back to you 1000X not only financially but in health and happiness.

Tips on How to Manage Change In Your Life

“Tips on How to Manage Change In Your Life” written by Bren Koger.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. ― Viktor Frankl

Are you struggling with how to manage change?  If you are, you’re not alone.

The one constant in life is change.

It’s the one thing that connects us all.

That’s why today I want to talk about how to manage change in your life.

How to Manage Change In Your Life

Everyone will at some point in their life get the call that will knock them off their feet. It could be your favorite gym closes down or something more significant in life like the loss of a job or the loss of a loved one.

The way we handle these changes in our life is a great indicator of your ability to live a long and successful life.

“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.” ― Leon C. Megginson

In The Midst of Change

If you are in the midst of a significant change in your life and you are feeling tossed around by the emotional roller coaster here are a few things to keep in mind.

Adopt an attitude of gratitude

You might be asking yourself questions like “why is this happening to me?” It’s best to welcome change as an opportunity. Find the benefit somewhere in the change. There is always a seed of benefit and opportunity in any seeming setback.
Start by keeping a written record for 3 days. Every day, note 5 things, large or small, that you are grateful for. You will notice a more powerful attitude of gratitude growing

The Feeling of Being Alone

It’s normal to feel isolated during change. You may feel alone in what you are going through. It may seem like every other person in your life has it together.

We often think what we are facing is so unique that no one else can help or understand us.

But change is easier when you let other people in. Whatever the situation, there is always, someone who can help you adjust. Be selective about who you share your feelings with. Make sure they love and support you.

Faith & Trust

You are going to be afraid and doubt your abilities. Try as often as you can to change fearful thoughts to more empowering ones of faith and trust.

Pick a scripture verse that will help you when you are feeling doubt and fear creep in.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Reconnect to your center by going into prayer/meditation as much as you can. Use it as your anchor. Think of your center as an anchor and you as a small boat. You don’t want to have too much rope so that you get to far from your center. Just wander out enough in your day to do what you need to do and then come back to your center through prayer.

Be Good To Yourself

It’s really important to be good to yourself during times of change.
Whether life has thrown you a change or you want to make a shift being good to yourself is an absolute must–don’t forget the S.E.E.D of all change.
Sleep
Eat Well
Exercise
Drink Water
This is a new chapter in your life with new friends and new skills. Look at it as an opportunity for growth.

Who you are today is the sum of all the changes you’ve experienced–the fun ones and the difficult ones—in your lifetime. You have access to tips and wisdom from others who have been there. And you will get through this time.

Key Tips On How to Get Centered from Anywhere

“Key Tips On How to Get Centered from Anywhere” written by Bren Koger.

Get Centered From Anywhere

The weather here in Cincinnati at certain times of the year can be a challenge. This area of the country is rated one of the top worst cities for allergy season.

It can leave you feeling drained

Combine that with getting stuck in traffic and a myriad of other things that can cause stress in the day and some days it can be a little overwhelming to be out and about.

We can’t control allergens in the air, traffic conditions or any of the stressors in our life but you can control how you choose to respond to them.

So what do you do when you can feel your vital energy being sapped and drained from uncontrollable external forces?

If you’re out in traffic or running errands you many not be in a place where you can close yourself off in a room and do a formal meditation here are a few quick simple ways you can stay grounded and centered from anywhere.

Tips to Stay Grounded From Anywhere

Breathe -Focusing on your breath by inhaling for three counts. Hold for three counts. Exhaling for three counts for a few rounds can do wonders in bringing you back to the present moment. In times of stress we tend to breath in shallow rapid breaths and this contributes to our feeling of anxiety. By consciously slowing the breath down we are sending vital oxygen and nutrient coursing through our bodies.

The Tony Robbins breathing exercise is mentioned in the book “Unlimited Power” and basically consists of breathing in the following ratio

Breath in for one count

hold for 4 counts

breath out for two counts

Set aside some time=

Set Aside Some Time for Later -If you are over analyzing a situation and you feel like your thoughts are in a loop. Tell yourself you will set some time to think about things. Later and then schedule some time with yourself where you can think about things and problem solve. Don’t allow the thoughts you are having run you. Take charge.

Get Grateful– Go over a list of 10 things you are grateful for
Science tells us that gratitude makes us healthier. Gratitude also adds to the bottom line – in very real ways. And the best news about gratitude is that it requires little time and you can practice it anywhere.

Try using “Hand Yoga“. Hand yoga is the act of stretching and tensing/relaxing the muscles in your hands. It may sound strange, but for some people it’s an excellent way to relieve stress – Spread your fingers and stretch out both hands as much as possible.

Hold this position for a few seconds, then release it.

Curl each finger individually into your palm, pushing gently with your thumb. Hold it, then release.

Flex your wrists and bend each knuckle individually to “shake out” the muscles and joints.

Recite a passage or mantra that is meaningful to you.
I love this verse from the bible. It immediately calms me.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Stress is only a state of mind and any situation is temporary. By using these simple tools you will be able to calm yourself from anywhere.

Setting Boundaries For Your Worrisome Thoughts

“Setting Boundaries For Your Worrisome Thoughts” written by Bren Koger.

Have you ever had worrisome thoughts?

I’m sure you have… I get them often.  It’s human nature.  The trick is not to be controlled by those worrisome thoughts.

When the going gets tough it’s very easy to get into a pattern of thinking “what if this happens” or imagine the worst case scenario. This can be a vicious cycle because it saps the precious energy that you need to move through those rough times.

How to Manage Your Worrisome Thoughts

Worry leads to anxiety and poor health.

And then you find yourself worrying about worrying too much.

Is there a way out of this vicious cycle?

Awareness Is the First Step

Notice the worrisome thoughts coming in and don’t judge yourself harshly for having them. Life can deal some harsh blows so your thoughts are normal. Don’t try to judge or suppress the thought. Just postpone it until later. That way it’s not running the show.

I think of these thoughts like a toddler always wanting your attention. “Mommy, Mommy pay attention to me. look at me”……

Setting Boundaries For Your Worrisome Thoughts

it’s up to you to set healthy boundaries on your toddler thoughts. Let them know you love them and it’s not punishment or judgment but that you can’t give them your full attention 24/7. In order to give your worrisome toddler thoughts 100% of your undivided attention you have set aside some special time to spend with them.

Throughout the day journal the thoughts you worry about the most and you will see a pattern. This way you can tell which ones need the most attention.
Then Set aside about 30 minutes a day when you can take the time to sit with your thoughts (make sure it’s not too close to bedtime so that it keep you awake.)
The next step is to take a look at your list and ask yourself are these problems something I can work on.

Am I Taking Actions Steps Toward Resolving Them??

What small action steps can I take every day to solve this problem? It might mean stepping outside your comfort zone to make phone calls or reach out to people.

You might have worrisome thoughts that are out of your control. Something that involves someone else.
Ask yourself:

  • Is the thought helping them? How will worrying about it help them and how will it hurt them?
  • Is there a more positive, realistic way of looking at this situation?

Setting Boundaries For Your Worrisome Thoughts

Serenity Prayer

The serenity prayer has been a huge source of comfort to me at times.

Stay Focused On The Present

My next tip is to stay focused on the present.  When you are in a negative thought your breath becomes more shallow and your body tenses up. Pay attention to the way your body feels, the rhythm of your breathing, and as much as you possibly can bring your attention back to the present moment.

Using mindfulness meditation to stay focused on the present will it take some practice.

At first, you’ll probably find that your mind keeps wandering back to your worries. Be patient with yourself start out slow. Each time you draw your focus back to the present, you’re reinforcing a new mental muscle that will help you break free of the worry cycle.

Powerful Positive Thinking Exercises That Help Get Results

“Powerful Positive Thinking Exercises That Help Get Results” written by Bren Koger.

Are you looking for some positive thinking exercises that really work?

Positive thinking can help you have huge success: at home, business, health, relationships, and pretty much all aspects of life.

In this article, I’m going to share my favorite positive thinking exercises.

Positive Thinking Exercises

I’ve had this posted on my office wall for many years now.

Powerful Positive Thinking Exercises That Help Get Results

I’m pretty sure it originally came from some Bob Proctor training that I took over ten years ago.

Having the ability to have a positive mental attitude is not just a self-help theory. There are actually studies being done on the impact of your thoughts on your success level in all areas of your life.

Impact of Positive Thinking Exercises

In one study by Barbara Fredrickson at the University of North Carolina Fredrickson tested the impact of positive emotions on the brain by setting up a little experiment.

During this experiment, she divided her research subjects into five groups and showed each group different film clips.

The first two groups were shown clips that created positive emotions. Group 1 saw images that created feelings of joy. Group 2 saw images that created feelings of contentment.

Group 3 was the control group. They saw images that were neutral and produced no significant emotion.
The last two groups were shown clips that created negative emotions. Group 4 saw images that created feelings of fear. Group 5 saw images that created feelings of anger.

Afterward, each participant was asked to imagine themselves in a situation where similar feelings would arise and to write down what they would do. Each participant was handed a piece of paper with 20 blank lines that started with the phrase, “I would like to…”

Participants who saw images of fear and anger wrote down the fewest responses. Meanwhile, the participants who saw images of joy and contentment, wrote down a significantly higher number of actions that they would take, even when compared to the neutral group.

You Get What You Focus On

In other words, when you are experiencing positive emotions like joy, contentment, and love, you will see more possibilities in your life. These findings were among the first that suggested positive emotions broaden your sense of possibility and open your mind up to more options..- James Clear

What Are Some Positive Thinking Exercises?

So how do we develop and maintain positive mental attitude to open up the possibilities; especially when times are tough.

Meditation– within minutes you can go from stress to complete clarity and peace.  If you are new to meditation, try this 10-minute guided meditation.

[jwplayer player=”2″ mediaid=”20874″]

Try a stress journal– For one week you write down all of the things in your life that cause you stress or make you feel fearful.

This includes thoughts about the past and projections about the future.

Look for patterns in your negative thinking. Are there certain thoughts you keep on thinking and certain times of the day its more intense. With this awareness, you can analyze the most damaging thoughts and you can write an affirmation that will help you pivot your thinking to a better feeling thought.

Positive Things

If you want to boost your ability to think a positive thought then every day make a list of all the positive things that have happened to you. Some days this will be easier than others, but if you really think about it how bad can it be when…

“Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.”
“At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day.”
“Some 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation.”
Source: globalissues.org

You can easily come up with a list of 10 things. People tend to have a negativity bias that we constantly need to keep in check.

So think over the last few hours or last night and think of ten cool things and write then down

You Inner Child

Get in touch with your inner child-Find something that you like to do and just play. I recently happened upon this really cool adult coloring book in the check out isle at Whole Foods. It really is relaxing to color these beautiful pictures. (if you have some perfection issues practice going outside the lines)

Powerful Positive Thinking Exercises That Help Get Results

Exercise– go to the gym, go for a run take a walk outside in nature.
Anything to get your body moving and the flow of oxygen to your brain and release endorphins throughout your body.

Final Thoughts on Positive Thinking Exercises

I can honestly say that all of the above have been really helpful for me in working through some of my life’s darker moments. I hope you also get some benefit from these. Please share your own positive thinking techniques below!

How Superstitious Are You And Do Superstitions Help?

“How Superstitious Are You And Do Superstitions Help?” written by Bren Koger.

If you are like most people you probably participate in some kind of superstitious thinking.

Would you feel bad if you broke a mirror?

Do you knock on wood or cross your fingers?

How Superstitious Are You?

It turns our the average person is superstitious enough to avoid walking under a ladder.

This is a picture of the entrance to my gym where I work out almost every day.

Today right in front of the check-in desk there was this giant ladder.

How Superstitious Are You And Does Superstitions Help

You pretty much had to go under it to check in.

What did most people do?

They went all the away around and reached across to give the person at the desk their check in card.

How Superstitious Are You And Does Superstitions Help

From what the people at the desk were saying this was happening all morning. Very rarely would someone attempt to go under the ladder even though there was plenty of room.

Based On Statistics

This is in line with a Gallup poll that says more than half of Americans admitted to being at least a little superstitious.

Why is this?

Do Superstitions Help?

There are a few reasons people practice superstitious thinking and why it might be beneficial

It’s a way to feel more in control– Say you’re going for a job interview and you’ve done everything you can possibly do to prepare. You’ve dressed appropriately. You’ve researched the company. You arrive on time.

Having that lucky coin in your pocket is just one more thing you can do to help.

This can act as a placebo effect and help you believe that luck is on your side. Belief is powerful. There is one study where people were given a golf ball and asked to make 10 putts. Half were told that the ball was lucky and these people made 35% more successful putts than the others did.

If you think something will help you, it may actually help you. Because you believe it can.

It boosts confidence and reduces tension. Studies show “Engaging in superstitious thoughts and behaviors may be one way to reach top levels of performance,” because it eases anxiety and reduces tension. Just knowing you have that lucky coin in your pocket helps to calm your nerves and this puts you in a flow where you can think more clearly and perform at your peak.

Final Thoughts on Superstitions

So the next time you find yourself crossing your fingers or knocking on wood you’re actually doing yourself a favor by increasing confidence level and reducing tension.

What superstitions do you practice? Leave a comment below.

How to Effectively Use Positive Daily Affirmations

“How to Effectively Use Positive Daily Affirmations” written by Bren Koger.

Have you tried using positive daily affirmations?

A lot of power can come from them if used correctly.

That’s why today I want to talk about how I use positive daily affirmations to create a positive outcome in my life.

How to Use Daily Positive Affirmations

The spoken word is powerful and what we speak out loud eventually creates our future.

Most of us know the powerful benefits of daily positive affirmations.

Those positive statements spoke out loud that describe a desired situation or goal, repeated until they get impressed on the subconscious mind.

We are co-creators with the universe and like the creator of the world, we can choose to be deliberate about our creating by the words we speak.

My Favorites Daily Positive Affirmation

Here is one of my favorite affirmations I have been saying for years.

I dwell in the midst of infinite abundance.
The abundance of God is my infinite source.
The river of life never stops flowing and it flows through me into lavish abundance.
Good come to me through unexpected avenues and God works In a myriad of ways to bless me.
Nothing is too good to have happen.
Nothing is too wonderful with God as my source.
I give freely and fearlessly into life and life gives back to me with fabulous increase.
I am indeed grateful and so it is.

I have it memorized and some days say it several times throughout the day.

It never fails to make me feel lighter and in the flow.

Here are some reasons why this affirmation works for me…

It Resonates

It resonates with me. Not every affirmation feels right for me. It’s important to pick something that resonates. You can repeat phrases all day long but if the words don’t feel right or it’s something that seems impossible your BS meter is going to throw them out. Your subconscious mind can tell if it’s something you believe in or not.

You will know if it sits right with you immediately and if it doesn’t choose another one. Tweak and tinker with the statement until it feels just right.

Use of the “I” Statements

It’s in the first person. Use “I” statements. “I AM” are the two most powerful words on earth. They are words of creation. Whatever follows “I AM” starts the creation of it. Be very mindful of how you use these two little words. If you catch yourself saying”I am coming down with a cold.” Or I am so tired. Catch yourself and rephrase It to what you want to create. “I am feeling energetic.” It may seem weird at first but I bet you star to feel some energy once you voice it out loud.

Present Tense

Use the present tense. I am so happy and grateful NOW is one that Bob Proctor uses regularly. It’s already done. If you use a past tense like “I will” or “ I want to” You are subtly co-creating for a future event that never arrives.

Instead of “I will…. Use “I am now”

I dwell in the midst of infinite abundance NOW.

Positive

Keep it positive. Instead of saying “I no longer want to be sick.” Say “I am experiencing an energetic and healthy body now.”

Try not to mention the problem. Focus only the solution. Again this is subtle but very powerful.

Short Sentences

Make the sentences short and easy to remember. That wat you will easily be able to commit them to memory and repeat them over and over throughout the day.

Final Thoughts on Using Positive Daily Affirmations

If you’ve tried affirmations in the past and have felt you might have a block it could be from some things that have happened in your past causing an emotional block.

You may have had needs that were not by well-meaning (or not so well-meaning ) care givers, I have an exercise to delve deeper under the surface of

Click here to message me if you would like to set up a time to go through this powerful process for a deeper more meaningful positive daily affirmations.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Please comment below one of your favorite affirmations.

Love and Light,
Bren

Learn To Trust and Follow Your Intuition

“Learn To Trust and Follow Your Intuition” written by Bren Koger.

Have you ever wished you had followed your intuition?

You may have had a nagging feeling to do one thing, but you decided or reasoned against it.  Then after seeing the result, you wished you had followed your intuition instead.

That’s why today I want to talk about learning to trust and follow your intuition.

Trust and Follow Your Intuition

I was coming back to Cincinnati from a trip to Indiana to visit some friends and put my home address into my Google Map App so that I could tell how many miles I had left.

I pretty much know the route so was surprised to have it take me a different way than usual.

It had me veering off on a secondary highway 275 instead of what I knew was a straight shot on highway 71. So I re-entered my address and again it still had me taking an alternate route.

I thought I knew better than Siri so I just went the straight shot like I normally would only to hit bumper-to-bumper traffic for about 5 miles. 🙁

Learn To Trust and Follow Your Intuition

The Siri Analogy for Life

This reminded me of an analogy for life. Siri and Google Map are like accessing our sub-conscious mind through intuition. Our subconscious mind knows the bigger picture. It knows the the bumps and setbacks and either we refuse to listen or we think we know what’s best. When in reality we can’t consciously know every detail of our life and how it will turn out.

Without accessing our intuition we are relying on only what we know on a conscious level. Your subconscious mind is like accessing a super-computer with 40 million bits of data per second, whereas the conscious mind processes at only 40 bits per second.

Have you ever make a decision knowing that your higher power was telling you not to do it?

Have you ever thought you knew what was best and didn’t need to follow your intuition?

Just like my situation with the traffic jam not listening to it can slow down or even derail your success.

What is Intuition and Why Should You Follow It?

Albert Einstein once said that it is our most valuable asset, and one of our most unused senses. He described it as “a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance of something.” Sometimes it is referred to as gut feeling, sixth sense, innate wisdom, inner sense, instinct, inner voice, or spiritual guide.

Whatever word you use it’s an important part of success in any area of your life.

How to Access Your Intuition

If you’re not sure how to access your intuition, Lindsay Lewis from Mindbodygreen says to close your eyes and remember a specific instance or multiple instances when you felt very certain—especially if you didn’t quite know why you felt that way.

Dive deep into these memories, noticing everything about them. What do you see, hear, feel, taste, touch? Now shift your awareness to your physical sensations. As you sit with these memories, what do you feel in your body? Scan from your head, through your shoulders, into your arms, down your torso, into your stomach, your hips, through your legs, and into your feet.

Note every physical sensation. Remember that we’re looking for physical sensations here, not emotions. Get very specific about what you feel in your body. Once you remember this then you will be able to access it as needed

More Tips On How to Follow Your Intuition

Here are a few more tips on accessing your intuition:

Meditation. It’s important to quiet the chatter in order to hear. If I’d had music blaring in the car or been distracted I wouldn’t have been able to HEAR where I needed to go. Take some time every day to sit quietly with out distraction and listen.

Ask guidance. Ask a specific question for your life or just to generally be guided throughout the day.

Be aware of signs. They can be a way of communication. Some people see numbers like 11:11 and some will see a word on a billboard that is significant. All of those synchronistic events have meaning and the more you are aware of them the more it will happen.

Listen to your gut. We all get impressions of people and things. Some makes you feel calm and at peace and something’s make you feel jittery and anxious. Listen to your “gut brain.” It will never steer you wrong

7 Ways to be Happier

“7 Ways to be Happier” written by Bren Koger.

Are you struggling with finding ways to be happier?

Life can be challenging at times, but being happy is paramount to having a great life.

That’s why I want to share 7 ways to be happier.

Be Happier

Before we can get starts, let’s start with the definition.

What Is Happiness?

Wikipedia defines happiness as is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

Who wouldn’t want to live a life ranging from contentment to intense joy?

Happiness Always Exists

We live in a messy world and some things are out of our control. But Happiness always exists within us.

And is the only thing we can truly control in life

If we can manage our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. we can achieve our goals and gain success in life.

7 Ways To Be More Happy

Here are my 7 ways to bring more happiness into your life

1) Gratitude and Appreciation

Number one is always going to be gratitude and appreciation. Gratitude is very close to the top of the emotional scale. It is on the same level as feelings of love. Gratitude is the key to success in every area of your life. It’s hard to be angry or depressed when you are in a state of gratitude and appreciation.

Every day make a list of 10 things you are grateful for and think about this list before you go to bed at night. Your subconscious mind will marinate on it and bring more into your life.

P. S. Include in this list the things you are struggling with too. There is always a seed of opportunity in any setback or disappointment.

In ALL things rejoice.

2) Go Out In Nature

Take a walk in a park or just sit on your front steps and take in all the beauty that surrounds you. Do this periodically throughout the day, Especially if you work inside. It will be an instant pick-me-up.

3) Eat Foods That Are High In Nutrients and Probiotics

It’s hard to feel emotions that are a high vibration if we are filling or bodies with low vibrational foods. Foods that are overly processed are not giving us the vital nutrient’s we need. It can make us feel sluggish and run-down. Probiotics help us have a healthy gut flora so that we can absorb those nutrients. Try my breakfast chopped salad for a period of a week or two and see if it changes how your body feels.

4) Get Moving

Add some sort of physical exercise to your daily routine. It doesn’t have to be joining a gym. It could be walking, bike riding or gardening. More vigorous exercise like running or a spinning class 3 times a week is even better.

5) Connect With Others

We are social creatures and studies show the more connected we feel the healthier and happier we are. Call a friend and make time for coffee or lunch. P.S. be selective about your social circle. Only allow the people that are uplifting and supportive.

6) Practice Meditation

Practice meditation with an awareness of your breath to retrain any negative thinking.

7) Do What You Love To Do

Follow your passion. We all know what it feels like to be in a flow of activity that you love… time falls away. You deserve to do what you love.

Final Thoughts On Ways To Be Happier

“Happiness is not, except in very rare cases, something that drops into the mouth, like a ripe fruit. … Happiness must be, for most men and women, an achievement rather than a gift of the gods, and in this achievement, effort, both inward and outward, must play a great part.” Bertrand Russell

Happiness is a decision. Happiness is a matter of choice. With these seven tips you are not only going to live a happier life but be well on your way to achieving greater success and health.

Here’s to your happiness!

Love and Light,
Bren

Eight Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

“Eight Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams” written by Bren Koger.

Eight Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Are you looking for the key to living the life of your dreams?

The follow are my ten steps to living the life of your dreams.

1) Know What Your Dreams Are

If you’re not sure what you want, it’s pretty difficult to reach your goals. If that’s the case, start with thinking about what you loved to do as a child. What gets you excited and what would you do even if you didn’t get paid? Then do some research on the internet. Come up with a list of five things.

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

2) Imagine Your Best Day Using All Of Your Senses

Feel it, hear it taste and touch it. The more you can get into the feeling space of the kind of life you want the easier it will come into your reality. This will help you get clear on exactly what you want.

What will you be doing?
Who will you be with?
Will you travel?
Where will you live?
What will your body look and feel like?

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Example: I wake up in my master bedroom suite to the sounds of nature outside my window. Birds chirping. My sheets are luxurious and soft and I hear the sounds of laughter from my family in the kitchen and smell coffee. As my feet hit the floor of my bathroom I feel the cool travertine under my feet. I feel healthy and strong….etc

3) Start With Where You Are Now…

And do an assessment in the areas of health, relationships, and finances and use it as a jumping off point to an amazing future.

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Example: maybe you’ve gained a few pounds over the years. Really take a look at where you are by doing a weight and measurement. We can be in denial at times and not want to face what we deep down know to be true. Without awareness and assessment, we can’t change.

4) Come up with a plan

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Example: map out a healthy diet plan and workout routine.

5) Take Daily Action Steps That Are In Alignment With Your Goals

We can all develop some bad habits that are not assisting us to accomplish what we want in life. Take the time to assess whether or not each of your daily habits could be tweaked a bit to be more in alignment with your long-term goals. And follow through with daily action steps.

Example: maybe your eating habits have slipped over the years. A dessert here and an extra meal there. Find out how you can replace this with a conscious effort to eat more healthy.

6) Remove Any Roadblocks To Your Success

It might mean changing your eating patterns or being more disciplined with your daily tasks. There is no better time than now.

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Example: Stop buying foods that are bad for you and set up a time to go to the gym.

7) Get The Support Of Mentors And Like-minded People

One of the critical steps to living a dream life is finding people who are already living that life and getting to know them better, even if it means just reading about them or following them on social media. Reach out to people and connect. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. They were once where you are now.

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

Example find an accountability buddy who will meet you at the gym or for a class or a running partner. Let people know of your goals to elicit their support.

8) Commit

Do whatever you need to do to make the commitment serious. By recording your voice saying “I’m committed to making my dreams a reality and won’t settle for anything less.” And listening to it at least twice a day.

Ten Steps To Living The Life Of Your Dreams

To stay on track toward your dream life I also recommend the self-confidence formula from the classic book “ Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
