How To Make A Marketing Funnel That Works | Digital Marketing Sales Funnel

“How To Make A Marketing Funnel That Works | Digital Marketing Sales Funnel” written by Mike Marko.

I get it… you’ve probably heard of digital marketing sales funnels from someone or from some ad…

and now you’re wondering how you can make your own online cash machine.

Let’s face it: the concept sounds really cool.  Now imagine if such a “unicorn” actually exits; an online series of pages and emails that actually give you sales on autopilot.

Yeah, right.

Ok… what if I told you these things actually do exist?  And that today I’m going to teach you how to make a marketing funnel that works.  If that peaked your interest, then let’s dive in.

How To Make A Marketing Funnel or Digital Marketing Sales Funnel

I’ve been building digital marketing sales funnels for years for both myself and clients, both for marketing funnel Cincinnati clients and for clients across the world.  And now I want to share my experience to help you with your marketing funnel.

So before we really dive into how to make a marketing funnel let’s first talk about…

What Is A Marketing Funnel

I get the question quite often, “what is a marketing funnel”.  The generic answer is that a marketing funnel is a marketing system.

A more detailed answer is a process where you convert traffic into leads, then leads into customers, and then often the marketing funnel converts customers into repeat buyers.

Digital marketing sales funnel have been around much longer than web marketing.  But with the introduction of websites and email it has made marketing funnels easier to build.

How To Make A Marketing Funnel or Digital Marketing Sales Funnel

Let’s Get To The Basics

The purpose of a tradition funnel is to collect stuff and make it easier to go into a “container”.  For example, and oil funnel is used to make it easier to pour oil into your car engine.  The same goes with email or marketing funnels… they make it easier to “collect” traffic (website visitors) and have them filtered into your internet marketing machine.

The idea of marketing funnels is derived from the classic marketing concept: AIDA… or in other words Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action.  These 4 elements describe how you build customer relationships.

Example Of A Digital Marketing Sales Funnel

I want to share an example of a digital marketing sales funnel… in fact one right above this section.  See that banner, “Free Bootcamp Training Mini-Course”  Well that’s the beginning of one of my digital marketing sales funnels.  I’m offering something for free: a mini-course.  This free giveaway is to encourage people to give me their name and email in exchange for some valuable information.

If you click the banner it will take you to a capture page.  The capture page is designed to collect your email (and often some other contact information like your name).

After you give your email you’ll be taken to a thank you page.  This thank you page can also be a sales page as well.  In parallel… you’ll start receiving a series of emails as part of the follow up sequence.

So as you can see, there are several parts to a digital marketing sales funnel.  Now that you have a better understanding of marketing funnels, let’s talk about how to make a marketing funnel.

How To Make A Marketing Funnel

Let’s take this step by step, starting with…

1. Identify Your Target Market

This is where you can make or break your entire digital marketing sales funnel. If you don’t know your niche and target audience really well then you could waste a lot of time and money.

Assuming you already have a product or service to sell, then you should take the time to describe your target audience.

Don’t rush this process… it literally will be a key factor in determining the success of your marketing funnel.

NOTE: Don’t focus on your present clients.  Instead focus on your target or desired clients.  This exercise is to help refine who you want to attract more of into your business.

2. Brainstorm The Pain Points

Now that you know your target audience, you need to take the time to brainstorm at least ten pain points that your target audience has.  Aim for twenty, but don’t allow yourself to do less than ten.

Pain points are things that actually both your target client and may even keep them up at night.  They are real concerns to the people you identified in step 1.

Don’t think about the solution to these pain points… Don’t write those down.  Focus exclusively on the pain points from the perspective of your potential client.

3. Pick The Top Three

Once you have your list, pick the top three pain points.

The guidelines for picking the top three are:

  • The most likely and biggest concerns for the target audience,
  • The concerns that you are best at solving,
  • The concerns that you want to solve in your business.

The best pain points have an element of all three guidelines.

We now know our target audience and what keeps them up at night.  We have just gotten started with how to make a marketing funnel

I have an overview of the steps after this point in How to Build a Marketing Funnel That Works On Autopilot.

4. Make The Lead Magnet

The next step is to design the lead magnet.  There is a lot to designing an effective lead magnet.  To help you check out this article, Lead Magnet Ideas | How To Create A Lead Magnet.

When picking content to create the lead magnet make sure you pick things that help partly solve the top three pain points you previously identified: the point is to make something that actually has an impact in the person’s life.  If you don’t help at all with your lead magnet, then the rest of your campaign will have little or no effect.

My team with IM Consultant Services will help our clients create the lead magnet… making sure it looks very professional.

5. Build The Capture Page

After designing the lead magnet, you are ready to create the capture page.  There is a lot to consider in building a capture page.  You can learn more by checking out the article, The Key Tips To How To Make A Lead Capture Page.

This is an important step that we help our clients create.  If you want to build your own capture pages, we recommend using Clickfunnels.

6. Create The Thank You Page And/Or Sales Page

After someone opts into your capture page, where do you want to send them next?

The typical digital marketing sales funnel sends them to either a Thank You Page or a Sales Page.  A Thank You Page is just that… a page that thanks the person for giving their personal information and tells them to check their email for a free gift link, or something like that.  A Sales Page is pretty self explanatory as well: it sells your first product or service to the visitor.

If you do a Thank You page, I recommend having a short video of yourself… thanking the person for their information.  These videos should only be 30-60 seconds long.  Here is an example of a short script:

Thank you for showing interest in xyz.
Hi, I’m ____________. I’m a  _______________ (insert 15-30 sec elevator speech).  Look to your email in the next few minutes for a link to the information you asked for.  Over the course of the days coming, I’ll be sending you some more free information about xyz.  Click the link below to [schedule a free appointment with me to…]

From here you may have a series of upsells or downsells, trying to get the visitor to buy products and services from you.

7. Create The Email Marketing Series

Since typically only 2% of people that may be interested in your product may buy on the first exposure.  It usually takes 7 to 10 exposures to get the sale… that means you have to employ email marketing as part of your follow up strategy.

There is a lot to email marketing.  That’s why we typically work hand-in-hand with writing emails for their marketing funnels.  If you are looking to write your own, I recommend checking out Effective Sales Follow Up Email Strategy.  If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get your funnel started today, then check out this article.

8. The Power Of Content

The most critical ingredient in virtually ever digital marketing sales funnel is CONTENT.  It would be remiss of me to talk about “how to make a marketing funnel” if I didn’t cover this topic.

If you want to attract people to your website in the first place… you need CONTENT.  Blogging is a great example of this.

If you want to turn more prospects into leads… you need CONTENT.  This includes not only the lead magnet, but also sending blog posts, videos, etc. to help build a stronger relationship with potential customers.

As part of the Indoctrination part of the email series, I recommend a short Goodwill email series.  This Goodwill email series will take the visitor to your best blog posts, videos, white papers, downloads, etc, that are relevant to your target marketing and the lead magnet that you offered.  The idea is you want the visitor to click your links, and identify what topics they are interested in learning.  Don’t skimp on this content… make sure it’s your best.  And the greatest content has video that has you talking in it giving invaluable and relevant content that your visitor would love to learn to help make their life better or easier.

When we work with clients we have them select at least three pieces of goodwill content to include into the digital marketing sales funnel.

Final Thoughts On How to Make A Marketing Funnel

In this blog post we talked about how to make a marketing funnel.  Marketing funnels are great way to grow your business using the internet.  Using this blog post as a guide, you can capture your traffic as leads and convert those leads into sales (and that’s the ultimate point of leads, right?).

The key, though, is test everything and don’t take anyone’s word for it.  All traffic will respond differently to different offers.

Test… test… test…

But in general, if you follow the elements I talked about how to make a marketing funnel you’ll do much better overall.  This is the same framework we take our own clients through when we help them build their digital marketing sales funnel.

Lead Magnet Ideas | How To Create A Lead Magnet

“Lead Magnet Ideas | How To Create A Lead Magnet” written by Mike Marko.

Are you looking to improve the number of leads you are collecting?

If you already know how to make a lead a capture page, you may still be unhappy with your opt-in rate (the percentage of people giving you their contact information compared to the total number of people visiting the capture page).

It can be VERY frustrating when you don’t get the lead capture that you want.  And not all lead magnets are treated equal… some will help you not only get leads but can also help you increase your sales…

That’s why today I want to talk about how to create a lead magnet and different lead magnet ideas.

How To Create A Lead Magnet

Let’s dive into how to create a lead magnet with…

What Is A Lead Magnet

Lead magnets are free giveaways that are used to generate new leads when you use a capture page.  They can also be used to move leads from one sales funnel into another.

Essentially… you use lead magnets to “bribe” people to give you there contact information.  You then use the email to put them into an autoresponder series or marketing funnel.  The better your lead magnet, the more leads you will attract.

Struggling Getting the Business Success You Deserve - yellow text 3

What Type Of Lead Magnet Should You Give Away

There are many types of lead magnets.  These include:

  1. Case Studies (PDF)
  2. Guide/Report (eBook)
  3. Cheat Sheet/Handout (PDF)
  4. Sales Call
  5. Toolkit/Resource List (PDF)
  6. Software Download/Free Trial
  7. Discount/Free Shopping
  8. Quiz/Survey
  9. Assessment/Test (PDF)
  10. Sales Material (PDF or eBook)
  11. Training Series/Bootcamp/Webinar

Lead Magnet Ideas How To Create A Lead MagnetThe Benefits Of Each Type Of Lead Magnet

Let’s dive into each type of lead magnet in more detail.

1. Case Studies (PDF)

Case studies are a great type of lead magnet.  They can be nice and short, and can have value for a very specific audience.

2. Guide/Report (eBook)

Reports and guides are probably the most common type lead magnet.  The trick with these types of lead magnets is that they are often too long, or they may not be specific enough for the target audience.

3. Cheat Sheet/Handout (PDF)

I love using cheat sheets and handouts for lead magnets.  They have a great “feel” to them… better than guides or reports.  They are generally only one or two pages, so they can be ultra to the point.  You can present these either as checklists, mind maps, or blueprints.

4. Sales Call

While this appears to be a great way to get business, you will only get people calling you that ready to make the sale or are on the edge of a purchase.  This may be ok on a website, but if you are doing paid advertising it’s much better to reconsider this “lead magnet” in order to capture more leads.

Remember, it takes on average 7 to 10 exposures for someone to buy if they are in the market to buy today… this may be the first or second exposure of your business so there is only a 2-5% statistical chance of them buying if they are a viable customer.

5. Toolkit/Resource List (PDF)

A toolkit or resource list can be a great lead magnet for the right target audience.  These can also be short and to the point.

6. Software Download/Free Trial

Software companies often use a free download as a form of lead magnet.  It can be a great way to get leads if done right.

7. Discount/Free Shipping

If you are selling physical products on or off-line, discount clubs or free shipping offers can be a great lead magnet.  The coupon or coupon code can be emailed to the subscriber.

8. Quiz/Survey

Quizzes and surveys are a very engaging way to generate new leads.  The reason is because participants have to opt in to see the results.  Only main downside to this type of lead magnet is that they are more complicated to build.  There are tools like http://www.TryInteract.com that can be used to create quizzes if you’re not a programmer.

9. Assessment/Test (PDF)

An assessment or test an be a great lead magnet if it is delivered online.  A common form of assessment are website or SEO evaluation forms to have your website assessed.

10. Sales Material (PDF or eBook)

This may not seem intuitive anymore, but in some cases it is very desirable to receive sales information.  The visitor can put in their contact information to learn the latest about a product or service.

11. Training Series/Bootcamp/Webinar

This is also a very popular way to get leads.  Often a training series may be spread out over several days, weeks, and even over a month!

How To Create A Lead Magnet… That Converts Sales

Ok, so you get your leads using the lead magnet… but it doesn’t have to stop there.  Your lead magnet can also help you get sales!

In the below chart, you can see the ability of different types of lead magnets to convert traffic into sales.

Lead Magnet Ideas How To Create A Lead Magnet

While an eBook or Video training are very good to get leads, typically few ever consume the entire document.  That means you really haven’t had a chance to reach out to your audience.

The PDF download is the best form of lead magnet because it is easily consumed (it is only a couple pages) and it’s pretty quick to create.  Take the time to make a professional looking PDF to help get the best results.

Final Thoughts On How to Create A Lead Magnet

In this blog post we talked about how to create a lead magnet.  Lead magnets are great way to improve the performance of your capture page.  Using this blog post as a guide, you can pick the most effective lead magnet to not only get leads but also convert those leads into sales (and that’s the ultimate point of leads, right?).

The key, though, is test everything and don’t take anyone’s word for it.  All traffic will respond differently to different lead magnet offers.

How To Build A Membership Site

“How To Build A Membership Site” video and written by Mike Marko.

You must have heard about how membership sites are a great way to monetize the internet.  You create some videos… and charge for people to see them.

Well it’s not quite that easy.

In fact, the reason you’re reading this is because you realize there’s more to it, and you are asking yourself about “how to build a membership site” that will actually get people to pay to use it.

That’s why I decided to today’s blog post… so let’s get started.

How To Build A Membership Site

Let’s start off with a video that gives an overview about how to build a membership site.

VIDEO: How To Build A Membership Site

[jwplayer player=”1″ mediaid=”26362″]

How that we covered a bit of the basics in that video, let’s roll up our sleeves and dive in.

So, let’s start off answering the question…

What Is A Membership Site

A membership site is a “gated” part of your website where only members who subscribe can access the content behind the “gates”.  A “gate” is simply a barrier you build into your website using a plugin like MemberPress or OptimizePress.

Once you’ve got that barrier in place, you can have the membership either free, paid, or a combination of both.  Then once they have the membership, members can log in and access the content.

The content I’m talking about can be a number of different things like:

  • eBooks
  • Webinars
  • Online courses
  • Podcasts
  • Pictures
  • Recordings

Basically.. the content are electronic.

Struggling Getting the Business Success You Deserve - yellow text 3

Plan Out The Membership Site

Take the time to plan out the membership site.   A good membership site has different elements to it.  Figure out the levels of access you want, and what the overall content structure and layout will ultimately be: create your rough blueprint.

In the video above, we also talked about the marketing funnel.  This is probably the most overlooked aspect of a membership site.  Without it, you’ll be hardpress to get any sales.

When planning out the marketing funnel, you need to plan out any upsells or downsells you’ll be offering in the membership site.  You may decide to start off with a free membership (to collect emails) which allows only limited access.  Then the member can pay more to unlock different areas of the membership site.

How Will You Charge For Access

What to charge for access will require thought:

  • Will you want to charge a one time fee, or will you want a monthly fee?
  • Do you want want lots of small products, or one large product with a higher ticket price?

Think about your product value ladder, and how you want to grow with your customer.

You Don’t Have To Have It All Done At Once

Don’t think you have to have the membership site completely done before you start marketing it.  You may decide to offer a “founders” discount for those early adapters will to pay for access before the site it complete.  You can also charge for access for each part as it’s completed.

Don’t think you have to get it 100% done… otherwise you may never get a chance to start monetizing your work.  The membership site will probably constantly evolve for years after the launch date.

How To Get Membership

When you have the site finally built you need to think about how you’ll get traffic to the site and into the marketing funnel.  While that’s outside the scope of this blog post, you should take a look at the following articles to see what methods of traffic generation you want to use:

and really the list can expand well beyond this.

You won’t be able to just expect the traffic will come once you’re site is built… you’ll have to deliberately drive traffic to the membership site.

Final Thoughts On How To Build A Membership Site

We just covered how to build a membership site.  Membership sites are a great way to help you monetize the internet, and really strengthen your brand and creativity.  You can also offer free membership sites just to people to give you their emails like a lead magnet.

If you are looking for an easier way to build your own membership site, be sure to take a look at the exact same blogging and marketing platform I use.

If you need help in getting your membership site together, then feel free to contact me and we can talk about the different consulting options we offer.  Or use the link below to apply for your “Results in Advance” free consultation and let’s get started right away:

How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Part 2

“How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Part 2” written and video by Mike Marko.

Have you heard about online marketing funnels?

In an earlier article, I had talked about the first part of how to build a dynamic marketing funnel.  I had talked about capture pages, lead magnets, and the welcome email.  Today, I want to take it another step step further and talk about the thank you page, and the Goodwill Campaign.

Time to roll up our sleeves and get started.

How To Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel

If you want to watch the video where I talk about how to build a dynamic marketing funnel then check out part 1 of this article.  We’re going to continue building upon this today.

How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel

How to Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Thank You Page

In the marketing funnel, often right after the capture page the marketer has the subscriber go straight to a sales page.  You’ve probably experienced it yourself.

The problem is…

It’s a cold and rather impersonal way to promote your products or services.  It’s almost like asking someone to marry you on the first date: you haven’t even really got a chance to learn about each other.

Marketing is very much the same thing… you need to introduce yourself first.  And that’s what the thank you page is all about.  You are giving the subscriber a chance to get to know you and not suddenly get defensive because you’re suddenly pitching them.

MLSP Review From A Non-Affiliate: Get The Facts on My Lead System Pro

Key Thank You Page Points

The key points to cover in a Thank You page are:

  • Say your name
  • Thank them for subscribing
  • Tell them to expect a link to their free gift in their email within the next few minutes
  • Give them a brief explanation WHY they should listen to you.  Why are you the one with the knowledge?  This is not a chance to tell them your resume… instead just hit the key points
  • Tell them what to expect going forward… like periodic emails about how to xyz (whatever your emails will be about)
  • You can tell them to make sure to whitelist your email
  • And then tell them what’s next… the introduction to the sales page.  That could be right after the video stops playing they are automatically redirected there, or they have to click a button or link.  Make sure you tell them what to do next.

The Thank You page video should only be 2-4 minutes long.  Keep it short.  People don’t have a long attention span to listen to you ramble on about who you are, etc.  They want to know what’s in it for them.

How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel - goodwill campaign

How to Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Goodwill Campaign

So in a previous blog post, we talked about how about 2% of people will buy on the first exposure to an offer (if they will buy).  You need about 7 exposures on average in order to get someone to buy if they are so inclined.

That’s why email is important… you bring them back to your offer.

But I don’t know about you, I rarely open my email.  I get SO MANY emails that I’m picky about which email I do open.

So how do I decide?

I pick email that

  • Are from friends
  • Are from clients
  • Are important personal notices that grab my attention
  • I know will have a great chance of immediately helping me right away with costing me anything

Does this sound familiar?  Chances are you are the same way.

So how do you get your email opened?  As a habit?

Dry Cleaners Analogy

Well I often use the analogy of a dry cleaner.  They will send you a coupon to entice you to bring your clothes in to have some clothes cleaned.  The deal will be worth the effort to go out of your daily routine.

You drop off your clothes… then a day or two later you come to pick them up.  At the point where you are picking up your clothes they give you another coupon to come back… which has enough of a discount to make it worth your while so you do come back.

What happens?  You end up going to the same dry cleaners four times in a row.  And… it takes at least three times of doing something to start forming a habit: they are making coming to their dry cleaners a new habit.

Apply the Concept to Email

If you apply the dry cleaner concept to email, the idea is you want to encourage people to open your email at least three times.  So how do you do that?

You do content marketing… give away tons of value.  With each email in the Goodwill series, you teach your subscriber something of value that will help them achieve their goals.  At the same time you show you’re an authority that can help, and help build your brand familiarity with them.

So what do you write about?

The Challenges List

Assuming you already know your target audience, you take the time to list out the top ten (at least) challenges that your subscriber will have that is related to what you can help solve.  For example, since I’m helping people with internet marketing my audience list of challenges may include:

Wasting money on ads that don’t work

  1. Have no website traffic
  2. Have traffic but they don’t buy
  3. They get leads that don’t buy
  4. They can’t sell high ticket items

etc.

List out at least ten items.

Then identify the top three challenges… and create content around the challenges.  Ideally you create video on the topic.  Video is great because it helps build trust because they get to know you.  The video should be between 5 to 15 minutes in length (no shorter because it has not enough value; no longer because otherwise few will have time to watch the whole video.

Goodwill Video Structure

The Goodwill video takes on the following general structure:

  1. Introduction (who you are)
  2. What the problem is
  3. Briefly the wrong way of solving the problem that the audience may be doing
  4. Why that doesn’t work
  5. Explain what they SHOULD be doing (give good value here)
  6. Wrap up with, “If you want to learn more about how to [whatever the topic is], click the link below.”

And the link takes them to the sales page.

Final Thoughts On How to Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Part 2

Today we talked about the power of the Thank You page and the Goodwill Campaign.  When you create a dynamic marketing funnel that incorporates all of these elements, you’ll find that you’ll get a higher rate rate.  The key, though, is test everything and don’t take anyone’s word for it.  All traffic will respond differently to different lead capture page designs and lead magnets.

Test… test… test…

But in general, if you follow the elements I talked about above you’ll do much better overall.

If you need help in creating your lead capture page and marketing funnel and want to work side-by-side with me in getting you all setup, then feel free to contact me and we can talk about the different options we offer.  Or use the link below to apply for your “results in advance” free consultation and let’s get started right away:

Have you heard about online marketing funnels?

I had talked about marketing funnels previously in another article.  I taught you a lot about what was involved in a basic marketing funnel.

Today, I want to take it one step further and not only talk about marketing funnels, but also how to make it dynamic so that you can further maximize your profits from your leads.

Time to roll up our sleeves and get started.

How To Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel

In the following video I talk about how to build a dynamic marketing funnel that will help you get better results when you are marketing your business online.

So what are the elements of the funnel?

Let’s cover them in more detail.

How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel - capture page

How to Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel – The Capture Page

The lead capture page, or landing page, is where you collect contact information such as emails from people visiting your website.  It has been demonstrated that only 1 or 2% of people who are first exposed to your offer will buy if they will buy at all. That means you need to keep exposing people to your offer.

That’s why collecting emails from visitors is very important for marketing online.

That’s where the lead capture page comes in!

Lead magnets are irresistible bribes you you offer that give your visitors value in exchange for their contact information. The goal of the Lead Magnet is to maximize the number of targeted leads you are getting for an offer.

The best lead magnets are customized to the needs of your target audience.  For instance, if you know your target audience is struggling to get quality leads for their business then your lead magnet could be about “Discover the Key Tips To Ensuring You Get Quality Leads That Convert For Your Business.”  It speaks to the needs of that audience.

Lead magnets can come in the form of:

  1. Guide/Report.  This is a very common form of lead magnet.
  2. Cheat Sheet/Handout.  These work well, and have a different feel than a guide or report.  They are generally short (one page or so) and get right to the point.  These can also be checklists, blueprints, etc.
  3. Toolkit/Resource List.  This can be a great for the right target audience.  It may be worth doing split testing to see if this would work for your business.
  4. Video Training.  If you are comfortable, video training can be a great way to deliver the lead magnet.  I use this all the time, and have quick calls to action at the end to maybe have the subscriber do a desirable action.
  5. Software Download/Free Trial.  This is pretty common for companies promoting their software.
  6. Discount/Free Shipping.  I’ve done this for clients where you can offer a discount coupon for signing up to the email list.
  7. Assessment/Test.  This can make a powerful lead magnet if you have an assessment that the target audience wants and needs.  These assessments can be used to help flip the visitor into a sale depending on the results of the assessment.
  8. Sales Material.  This is great if you have online sales material, like a catalog, that you can send once they provide an email.

Note that the lead magnet should only be accessed by a link from within the welcome email (see below).  That way you reward people for entering a valid email.

How To Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel - Welcome Email

How to Build a Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Welcome Email

Soon after the email is entered into the capture page, it is registered in the autoresponder (“AR”) and the welcome email is sent out.

The welcome email is a great way to introduce the subscriber to you, telling who you are and what to expect in the future.  It will also contain a link to the page containing the lead magnet if its a download file or a single video gift.

The lead magnet page should be pretty simple and straight forward, often just thanking them for subscribing and presenting the free gift.  Sometimes you can also include a call to action to have them click a link for more information, or just link to a contact us button.

Recommended Tool For Your Funnel

For people getting started, I recommend getting Clickfunnels to help build your marketing funnel. It’s easy to use and very effective at building a list.

I also recommend getting Aweber to link up to Clickfunnels as your autoresponder, especially for when you start.  Be sure to contact me if you want to build marketing funnels that are more complicated in nature and we can discuss appropriate tools.

Final Thoughts On How to Build A Dynamic Marketing Funnel – Part 1

When you create a dynamic marketing funnel that incorporates all of these elements, you’ll find that you’ll get a higher rate rate.  The key, though, is test everything and don’t take anyone’s word for it.  All traffic will respond differently to different lead capture page designs and lead magnets.

Test… test… test…

But in general, if you follow the elements I talked about above you’ll do much better overall.

The Key Tips To How To Make A Lead Capture Page

“The Key Tips To How To Make A Lead Capture Page” written and video by Mike Marko.

Are you struggling to get leads for your business?

Having an effective lead capture page is essential to getting leads for your business.  But this is often where many fall short.  I know… I struggled with effective lead capture pages for years.

That was until I had proper mentorship, and did a LOT of testing.

Today I want to cut down the learning curve for you and talk about the key tips needed in learning how to make a lead capture page that gets good results.  (By the way, a “lead” is someone who visited your capture page and provided contact information of some sort.)

How To Make A Lead Capture Page

In the following video I talk about how to make a lead capture page that will help you get better results when you are marketing your business online.

There are some critical elements to a good capture page to get a good lead opt in rate.

MLSP Review From A Non-Affiliate: Get The Facts on My Lead System Pro

What To Expect For Opt In

I’ve stated in the past the main purpose of a website is to get leads.  And the best way you get leads is to have a lead capture page.

But not all lead capture pages are created equal.

Some capture pages do well, and can “capture” the emails of as much as 60% of the traffic visiting the page.  Others don’t do so well and may only capture 10%… or less!  As a rule of thumb, you should try to capture 30% or more of traffic.  If not then your capture page needs work.

Lead Magnets

Lead magnets are the free giveaways you see given in lieu of someone’s email address, and other contact information like name and phone number, etc.

Generally, the more that you ask for the less likely you will get someone to complete the capture page.  That’s why its often advantageous to give away very good lead magnets if you want more than just an email.

Lead magnets are one way to increase the opt in of the lead capture page.

A lead magnet can be a pdf, ebook, report, video training, or video training series (just to name a few ideas).  The key is that you want to give away VALUE: something of value to your target audience.

The Key Tips To How To Make A Lead Capture Page

Let’s Dive In About How to Create A Lead Capture Page

The capture page for cold traffic (people who have little to know knowledge about you) is different than a capture page for warm traffic (people who already have knowledge of you and your brand).  For capture page layout above performs very well for cold traffic.  You need to keep the capture page “clean” and “straight forward”.

The Image

The image, in my opinion, is optional.  If used, the image is a way to help brand or help the visitor know what to expect on the other side once they give their email.

For example, if they are going to get an eBook then having a 3-dimensional picture of a book with your picture on it is one way to help tie in the lead magnet to the capture page (especially if the book image looks like the cover of the eBook).  If you are giving away video training, then a picture of yourself there is both a great way to brand yourself AND help tie the capture page to the training.

The main goal is to use the image as a way to help make the lead capture page, lead magnet, and the page right after capture page all congruent (matching).

The Title

The title is either the most important part of the lead capture page.  The title helps pull in the visitor and tell them what to expect for giving away their contact information.

The elements of the capture page are as follows:

  1. Use WOW factor.  You need to draw them in with some eye catching words or phrases like “Discover”, “Revealed”, “Never Before Seen”, and “First Time Ever”.
  2. Solves a problem.  You should clearly define what problem you are solving and why.  Some examples may be “Discover how to generate 5 leads a day with absolutely no ad cost using this one simple strategy”.
  3. Clearly stated.  You need to clearly state what they are getting.  Now this can be supplemented by using the appropriate image.  Either way it should be clearly stated if its a pdf, eBook, report, video, video series, etc.
  4. States benefits.  Make sure it is very clear what the benefits are.  This can be done using words like “so you can” like in “so you can have more free time” or “so you can get leads on autopilot”.
  5. Has “HOOK”.  A great way to introduce the hook is by using “without”.  For example “so you can get sales on autopilot without having spend all day on your computer” or “without having to pick up the phone”.

The Button

Finally the button needs to have a concise call to action.  For example, the button can say “Yes!  Send me my eBook”

The key with the button is that you need to use words like “Me”, “My”, and “I”.  Avoid words like “You” or “Your” because it doesn’t give the visitor the sense of ownership to the lead magnet as “Me” or “Mine”.

How to Build a Marketing Funnel That Works On Autopilot

“How to Build a Marketing Funnel That Works On Autopilot” written by Mike Marko.

Have you heard of an automatic cash machine?

Maybe you heard of people making sales while they sleep, on vacation, etc… and wondered how exactly they did this?

I know when I first started marketing online, I heard all about these automatic sales but I didn’t understand how it happened, or how it works.  Why are these people making the automatic sales and not me?

That was… until I found out about the magic of marketing funnels.

That’s why today I want to tell you how to build a marketing funnel that will do what everyone is talking about.

How to Build a Marketing Funnel

The follow video talks about how to build a marketing funnel like the one I recently created for my Instagram Marketing Mastery course.

Core Marketing Funnel

The core marketing funnel looks like the following illustration.

How to Build a Marketing Funnel

As we talked about in the video, the elements are as follows:

Capture Page: Visitors put in their email, and maybe other information like first name, etc, into a capture page.  This information is then collected and managed by an autoresponder.

Lead Magnet: A freebie given to help entice visitors to complete the capture page information.  The best way to give the lead magnet is by email in the form of a link to the gift… thus rewarding people only if they give a valid email.

Thank You Page: This is where you have a short video introducing yourself, what they can expect (like daily emails), and letting them know about the following video (sales video).

Sales Page: This is the page that tries to sell the product or service.

Checkout Page: If the visitor wants to buy the product, they click a button and they get taken to the checkout page where they can put in their credit card information.  This should be a secure page.

Follow Up Series

So what happens if the visitor don’t buy right away (and they probably won’t) then you need to send follow up emails.

How to Build a Marketing Funnel

So after the lead magnet is sent (in a welcome email) then the following day starts the rest of the following up campaign.

Goodwill Series: This series of emails have links to pages that teach your prospect something useful, and congruent to the reason why they signed up to your list in the first place.  You should do a minimum of three emails as part of your goodwill campaign.  I have done as many as twelve in some.  On the third (and later ones) you can include calls to action at the end to buy stuff… but don’t go over the top.  You want to focus primarily on giving lots of useful value/information.

Email Follow Up Series: These are the emails sent after the goodwill series is done, and you want to keep in touch with the prospect. Often people take 7 or 8 exposures before they buy.  Others may take months (or even years) before they are willing to buy from you.  It’s important to keep up with sending emails to prospects and help cultivate a list of avid followers.
