Customize your Instagram profile and make it look good. This will allow your potential followers to know who you are and give them a reason to follow you.

You can start by creating a unique Instagram name that can catch Instagram user’s attention. But…make sure it includes your business name which is easy to recognize.

Adding links to your blogs, websites or other social media pages will surely help. If users find you interesting, there is a higher chance that they might follow you.

Also try to keep up with the current trends. Sharing your thoughts or ideas in trending topics really affect the number of your followers.

It has been shown that visual content gets more positive feedback and reaction on different social media platforms. That’s why Instagram is a perfect tool to attract customers to your business.

When you about to post an update, consider how you can post about your product or service.  Be creative.

Don’t be blatant in posting.  Give hints to create curiosity.  Get your viewers hungry to learn more.  For example you can post pictures of your staff and location. You can even upload a short video about business events, etc.

Here are other ideas about the photos that you can post on your account:

  • Products you’ve released
  • Teases (sneak peeks) of new products and services
  • Office location or tour
  • Employees and fans
  • Clients in a casual setting
  • Events you’ve hosted or attended
  • Articles/blog posts

Make sure that when you post to take the opportunity to interact with your visitors. Ask them a question about the picture that you posted.  Encourage them to comment on the post.

You should also try to post at different times of the day.  Experiment to help you determine when your followers are online. Once you discover these times, try to post during these hours to increase interaction.

3. Use Appropriate Hashtags

Every time you post on Instagram, you really need to consider using hashtags.

Hashtags help users find specific content… and you want them to be found.  They are like keywords in SEO.

Here are some ideas to consider when using hashtags:

  • Local businesses: hashtag your city (#LosAngeles, #NewYork)
  • Products and services: hashtag the type of products or services your business have (#coffee, #shoes, #watch)
  • Experts and websites: hashtag your industry (#Marketing, #Travel, #Fitness)

Use hashtags related to the products or industry you’re in. You can use hashtag tracking tools like Tagboard, Keyhole, or Nitrogram to help. These tools can help you to keep track of the posts of other people in your industry and help with unique hashtag ideas.

Identify people in your niche/industry then follow, connect and talk with them. They may help make it easier for you to reach new followers that might also be interested in your products or services.

4. Be Interactive With Your Followers

To help grow your following and keep them on your Instagram page, you need to take the time to interact with them.

You can encourage them to post their own photos and let them post something about your business. Ask them to post and include a hashtag. Be sure to reply to their posts to let your followers feel that you value them.

Another way to interact with your followers is through posting a picture and asking a question. It can be an extremely effective technique.

5. Monitor Your Analytics

Business is about continually improving your marketing strategy. And on Instagram you can do this by making sure that you monitor your Instagram analytics.

Fortunately, there are analytics tools such as Curalate and BlitzMetrics which can help you monitor your Instagram analytics. They are paid services that will let you check the performance of your posts, and monitor their analytics. Their services can also help you in assisting you with Instagram management.

The Curalate dashboard can give you information about the metrics of your posts. You will be able to see how many people viewed, liked and commented on your posts. The site can also let you update your Instagram account on that site and engage with followers. You can also compare your account’s performance against competitors with a number of key performance indicators.

Once you see your performance through analytics tools, you can plan your next action on improving your business performance on Instagram. These tools can give an insight on what type of content you should focus on posting.

Instagram community is getting bigger and bigger as the time goes by and having a creative instagram name that stands out is getting more and more difficult to have.

Everyone wants a good and unique Instagram name, right? Something that you won’t be embarrassed giving out to your friends and relatives. LOL

Let me give you some ideas on how to make a creative Instagram name.

Me, Myself and I

Make it personal: use your life as an idea. Putting what you love or what you always do will give you an idea to be unique and creative.

Let’s say you are a traveler @iamatraveler will do. or you love eating ice cream, @icecreamaddict will do. Make it a representation of yourself and showcase you.

Hobbies

Your pastime or hobbies can also be a good idea on how to make a creative Instagram name.

If you love singing and your favorite genre is R&B, you can incorporate R&B in making my instagram name. You can use RNBlover then you can use a number… maybe a favorite number 08 or your birth year. So for example you could make it as @rnblover08.

This is also a good way for you to easily remember your name and people will know your interests. People with the same interest will then interact to you and you will gain more followers.The Simpler the Better

A simple Instagram name sometimes is actually better, make it your initial or last name.

This is easy for those who already have a unique last name. For example if your name is John Schneider you’ll have a much easier time than Mark Smith.

There are different ways on making your last name unique. Let’s say a simple last name Like “Krist” spell it backwards “Tsirk”. This is a unique idea and will be even more striking to those who know you.

Use other Languages

Barely anyone is going to know what “Ganda” means (a Filipino word) or the word “Oishi” means (on Japanese).

Using another language is a great way on how to make a creative Instagram name. The use of some cute or cool sounding words from a different language is cool. Some of the most creative usernames aren’t English!

So make use of your other languages!

Use Adjectives

Another way on how to make a creative name on Instagram is by using adjectives that would describe you the best.

Instead of using your first name with your last name like Johnsmith08… AwesomeJohn08 stands out a lot more.

Don’t always use your email address as a username. Half of what makes your login secure is the username, the other half is your password. Make sure to have a unique password…this will prevent the hackers to hack your account.

There are tons of adjectives you can use… and some sound super cool so use them!

Use Unique Characters

Using keyboard symbols is another way on how to make a creative name on Instagram. Try things like $^*%^, unicode characters, or other special characters. Some of these characters can even create cute emojis that are very popular these days.

Remember this will not only work on Instagram but it may work on other social media platforms you are using.

You can use a simple name in combination with those characters: for example simplecoco08Â¥!

When you are really lacking imagination name generators can come to the rescue.

You can search for name online generators. You’ll be amazed by the name and number combinations they can provide.

Be Careful

Social media is not private…. it’s VERY public. Therefore you aware that anything you put other there will not be private. People in the Instagram community will be able to see and know your information… especially if you’re using them as your username.

Let’s say you use your full name, your last name, or even your street address… this all can be risky.

Making use of obscene words could be offensive as well (and can have ramifications in your career). So be careful… and instead be creative without risking giving away too much.

Don’t Make It Long

Do not make an excessively long username.

Yes we want to be unique being unique but that doesn’t mean that you want to make a very long username.

No one wants to type in a very long username on the login page every time. And your visitors won’t be able to remember (or even type in accurately) your long user name either.

Keep your Instagram name short. Maybe spell it a bit different than normal… People will still be able to remember you and your account.

Check Your Username

You will be able to also know if your chosen username is unique and creative by the use of internet!

Visit a site such as KnowEm? and enter your username idea. You’ll be able to see how common your Instagram name may be across ALL social media platforms. I for one like to make sure that I can use the same username across as many social media platforms as possible. This will also give you an idea how unique your username idea really is.

Your account represents you… who you are and possibly your business brand. Make sure that your username reflects you, your personality and the things you do. And ultimately, you need to be confident that you love what you end up choosing.

I understand because a lot of my clients ask me to help them with the same questions.

That’s why today I want to address that. Let me help you boost up your game on instagram. As we go along I will share the most effective tips to increase your followers on instagram.

Tips On How to Increase Followers On Instagram

There are a lot of things to cover so let’s start with your Instagram profile.

How to Optimize Your Profile

Customize your instagram profile and make it good, tell everyone who you are, what you can offer and give them a reasons to follow you.

Start by making your username recognizable and easily searchable. You can use your business name. If it is already taken try to keep your business name on the first part and put numbers or anything that you want, this will help your potential followers find you easily and will increase your followers fast.

Make your Profile Public

Make sure your profile is public.  You can do this by just opening Instagram, open “options” and make sure that the “Private Account” is turned off. This will let your target community have an easy access on your profile and will possibly increase your followers on Instagram.

Profile Picture

Choose a profile picture that’s on brand with your other social media, a company logo or even your own picture. Make sure that it is eye catchy that people will wonder who you are.  It will make them wanting to follow you and share your profile to others. This will possibly be the first picture they will see from you so make sure to choose the best photo that represents yourself and will portray quality content.

Fill Bio

Fill the bio with delightful, actionable, and detailed information about you and your brand. Show them what you do, what you offer and add a hint of your personality. Make your bio striking to everyone… leave a mark to your audience by putting the best representation of you.

Be Active

For you to increase your followers make sure that you are active and have a schedule on when to post your content.  You should post at least one piece of content per day. This will let all the users know that you post every day and will give you more exposure to their feeds. Make your content always available to them: that way they always notice that your account is there (says “here I am!”)

Hashtags

Having hashtags on every post or update that you do will expose your content and will tie your content to other of the same content.

Make sure you have the right hashtag that is connected on the content. Be specific, relevant and clever in choosing one.  One more important note: don’t hashtag everything have a limit in the number of hash tags per post.

Using unbranded hashtags can also help make your own community that is relevant to your business.  This will make your customers love your contents even more and wanting to look forward to your next piece of content.

Photograph Skills

Since instagram is a mobile app, chances are most of your photos will be taken from your mobile device.  That’s ok.  It’s expected.  But some other brands have their professional photography for their instagram photos.

You can also step up your game by making your photos in a professional photography level. You can do that! You just have to have good and quality camera and at least a basic knowledge in editing.

You may also use your mobile phone you can use a ton of mobile app that will make your photos look like it was shot professionally you just have to be creative. here are my tips for you, focus on one subject at a time, embrace negative space, find interesting ;perspective, look symmetry, capture small details and the most important is make your followers laugh. This will increase the chance of more likes and next is more followers.

Captions

Captions may not be the focus of your content (the photos and videos should be the focus). But captions should never be an afterthought. They are very important in completing the feels to your content. It is the icing on the cake if you will.

Creative captioning makes the content even more meaningful. There are some followers who are looking for good captions. Captions may be a quotation or a description of the photo or video.

Another way to increase your followers is to engage your current followers or ask questions or have some sort of call-to-action in the captions of your photos. You may ask them what kind of content do they want, or ask them to share or like if they find the photos relatable.

Unique Photos

Post a unique photo that everyone will remember.  It should be striking and will make your followers go back and check the photo again. This will test your creativity, talent and of course patience. Not everyone will be pleased to your content but always remember make your own brand and make your followers love every content.

Promote Your Account

Promoting your Instagram on your other social media channels/accounts will also help you increase your Instagram following. Some of your followers on Facebook, Twitter or any other social media, may not know your account on Instagram.  So let them know you existence by linking your other social media platforms on every post that you upload.

Find Your Community

No matter how big the number of user’s Instagram has, there is always a way for you to find your own community.  Whether it is for fashion, health, food, beauty and even business… your community definitely exists.

Look for the community by knowing the top influencers within the community.  Hash tags to be directed to all the contents that will also give you ideas for your contents, the style and subject matter shared by the top accounts.

Popular engagement tactics used within the community. Take a look as well to the comments and likes to have an idea on how to respond to those who patronize those on top.

Tell a Story

Aside from posting unique content: tell a story make your own.

Remember the saying ‘a picture is worth a thousand words?”  This is definitely true; your photos will show a lot of stories depending on your audience’s personality or experience. And these stories will definitely make each and every follower want more stories and some of them will share the stories to other.  This will also help you to earn more followers.

Make Your Story Shareable

Another point to consider when you want to increase your followers on instagram is the number of shares on your content. Every piece of content should be relevant to your viewer… something that they can relate with and wanting to share it to their friends and family.

The content should teach them a lesson.  Make sure it will make them feel useful to themselves and their followers as well. This will help increase your followers even more and make your community even bigger.

Interact

Instagram is a social community.  One other way of increasing your followers on instagram is to find people with interesting content you can interact with… and comment on the pictures that interest you.  Follow the account of the commenter, and generally  interact with their content.  This will help you earn more followers because if the owner of the content gets notifications about you posting comments or following them they will normally check your account and decide whether or not to follow you.

Cross Promote

After you are done interacting, working on building a good relationship with other admins who have similar audiences.  Ask them to do dome a co promotion on each other. You could also ask them to tag you or mention you on a post that has the same content as your post.

Getting Quality Followers

Increasing your followers on instagram is our main goal.  But having quality of followers and likers will increase it even better. Just think of it as level of popularity.

Let’s say you have a follower who has thousands of followers and the other only has less than a thousand.  The possibility of getting followers on the more popular creator is higher than the other one. Of course everyone can follow but for you to gain quality followers…  depend on your level of contents.  So make the most on every content you post to increase the chance of getting quality followers as well.

And Love Your Contents

It is important that you start believing in yourself: that you can produce quality and lovable content that will make you love what you are doing. This tip will not only increase your followers on instagram but will also satisfy you from within.
